Default Diet Journal

Thats it! I'm done with being fat and weak, ever since I got pregnant I ate like a horse and granted I used my pregnancy as a excuse but then there were the cravings too.. after that I used breastfeeding as an excuse while stuffing myself with fryups, well the breastfeeding has stopped since June and now i've no excuse!
I was never superfit before but I was generally fit and healthy, I ate nutritious food moderately and slept good and was very awake when awake, my skin skin was great, no cellulite, no thinking about food all the time, no soft flabby loose skin, no tiredness all the time and I never ran out of breath running up a flight of stairs etc...do I miss those days or what!
I now want not to return to my health before but more than that. I want to lose the weight and in the process build up my body strength too. Am just so sick of being soft flabby tired and weak!
I don't however want huge massive muscles everywhere, it's just personal choice. I want my body to be strong and muscular but not to that extent, no offence to bodybuilders I think you look great, I just wouldnt be happy being that size myself(I won't be winning any bodybuilding contests then lol!), but I want my abs to show and my muscles overall as in arms and legs to be well built up and visible, kindoff like Linda Cusamo or gYmgIrL's Bod I guess.
Obviously what I need to strictly address now is the diet and excercise! So i've decided keeping a journal will be a good motivation for me. I've been telling myself for months what to and what not to eat and how much excercise etc but I don't keep a record and slip up alot and now haven't done excercise or eaten healthy for days, yuk!
Sometimes when I look at myself now the cellulite and loose skin, and then look at the pics of the superfit people on this site I think no way I can look like that or even just b slim again, but at the same time its a great motivation! I haven't taken a pic of myself for ages because of the weight but maybe its what I need to do, maybe the comparing before and afters will help keep me motivated everytime I lose a stone or so.
So here goes instead of saying this and that i'm going to write down a strict regime of diet and excercise and am going to follow it! I will keep a log of my progress that way I can look back on it and see where or if i've gone wrong, my biggest obsticle now is going to be the alcohol and takeaways I know but I WILL beat it!
Now as for the excercise routine I don't have any expensive equipment and don't have the time right now to myself to go to the gym so will have to make do with what I do have for now which is a Lateral Thigh Trainer and a 6seconds Abs, I also have a leg stretcher which I should start using too. Will also measure myself and log it because want to see the weight coming off everywhere!
Ok enough of the speech! Here's my measurements for 6/10/07, height 5'3,
14st7lb (92kg)
Bust 41in
Waist 39in
Hips/Butt 50in
Thighs 29in

And yes I know 've a huge butt an thighs but unfortunately not in a good way but a cellulite ridden way!
At the moment I am eating junk and feeling tired, sluggish, slow, forgetfull. I look terrible my skin isnt clear like before i've cellulite and my skin tone is changed not glowing like before. Other changes i've noticed is that my body hair is thicker than it used to be I mean I do shave but i've noticed the difference! Another is that since I put on the weight my periods have become heavier and last longer than before also I get really bad period pains, its obviously all associated with the unhealthy eating because I never had them before.
Not only physical either, my confidence has hit an all time low, I don't make an effort to dress up anymore and prefer dark baggy clothes to hide my size, I won't get on the dancefloor because don't want my thighs wobbling all over the place in front of everyone! My eyes have also shrunken in size I used to always get told how big sparkly and beautiful they are, now when I look at them though they are small round dull with circles round them.
I'll be keeping a regular log here to keep motivated, any advice especially on the amount and time of excercises I should do using the little equipment I have will be appreciated.
Also any criticism as well as encouragement is more than welcome, nothing motivates me more than a good kick up the backside!

So then you know how it feels and have achieved it before so you know it can be done with your body and you know how, cuz you did it before!! This is all good!!

I now want not to return to my health before but more than that. I want to lose the weight and in the process build up my body strength too. Am just so sick of being soft flabby tired and weak!
Way to go!!! I love it!

not an unreasonable request at all!! You can do that, sounds like you are gearing up to kick some butt!!!

Yeah, I love reading journals on here and we don't have enough of them, this is excellent and I will enjoy watching your success!!!
Sometimes when I look at myself now the cellulite and loose skin, and then look at the pics of the superfit people on this site I think no way I can look like that or even just b slim again, but at the same time its a great motivation!
It will and you can........you really can. Flab can tighten and cellulite can be sent packing.

I haven't taken a pic of myself for ages because of the weight but maybe its what I need to do, maybe the comparing before and afters will help keep me motivated everytime I lose a stone or so.
yes, yes yes.
So here goes instead of saying this and that i'm going to write down a strict regime of diet and excercise and am going to follow it!
write down your intention, get the pics and journal and then you do your best, things will always get adjusted or what not but imagine what a diference it will make on your body and you know it will bring results cuz its change.
I will keep a log of my progress that way I can look back on it and see where or if i've gone wrong, my biggest obsticle now is going to be the alcohol and takeaways I know but I WILL beat it!
Alcohol will be there later, next year, in a month, it will not disappear, but it will make a huge diff on your loss and I can guarantee you now, when you feel how you will feel when you get going on this, you will not want to increase the intake of the stuff you know is not the best choice, and use it for cheats instead.
Now as for the excercise routine I don't have any expensive equipment and don't have the time right now to myself to go to the gym so will have to make do with what I do have for now which is a Lateral Thigh Trainer and a 6seconds Abs, I also have a leg stretcher which I should start using too. Perfect and you can do a ton of stuff with bodyweight but, can you get a body ball? They are cheap at zellers, walmart type stores, superstore. Keep your eyes open for one, they can be as cheap at 10 bucks or less. You can do so much with one and if I can push it a tad more, an exercise band. I promise I could show you tons of exercises to keep you going just on those. Oh and then, a skip rope would just top it all off, also super cheap. Mull it over.......

Ok enough of the speech! Here's my measurements for 6/10/07, height 5'3,

And yes I know 've a huge butt an thighs but unfortunately not in a good way but a cellulite ridden way!
You are a booty baby.........you should name your journal 'Booty Baby Flab to Fab Journal' or some cool name!! Well anyway, at least you know you will have nice fit feminine curves and not look lanky as you drop fat.

This is super interesting........this will really relate to other women and inspire then to join you on a fat loss and health quest.
Another is that since I put on the weight my periods have become heavier and last longer than before also I get really bad period pains, its obviously all associated with the unhealthy eating because I never had them before.
yes totally...............sheeesh now that is huge motivation!!!

Seeing all that gorgeous long red hair of yours MissytroN and Linda's has got me wanting to grow mine again! I used to have it long and always got complimented but then cut it short when got fat to not draw attention to myself but honestly I think I look fatter with it short
And thanks Linda for the measurements observation lol I can see your good with sizes! Im very curvy yes even now my upper body shoulders arms etc is still lean all the fat and cellulite is in my ass and thighs yuk! When my bod changed in my early teens I was very self-concious of my big butt and small waist and got teased an tried to cover it up, then Jennifer Lopez hit the screens and I all of a sudden became sexy overnight! Goes to show how much media is also a huge influence on the way a body is percieved!

ANd here comes the millionth post of the day! Just to say I bought a motorized treadmill off ebay today(be delivered Tuesday), I decided a good investment because am serious about the weight loss and want to run but also want to spend all my spare time with my baby and not out jogging!
Now I can do both!
Any suggestions on how long per day I should run for? I'm thinking maybe 30mins to start?

If you can jog for 30 mins then perfect, try to do 3-5 times your first week then get back to me and let me know how goes it............I got one recently too, I kept putting it off and spending on other things, responsibly ..........well I just said screw it on threw it on Visa, worth a few months of payments!!!! Check out my journal, today I did a killer run and never have ever ran in that incline before at all........of course I have been doing an hour or more cardio for several weeks now so I worked up to it but this session today really pissed my asthma off so I was grateful to be home with all the hacking and noise us asthmatics make - but I fought and ran. I thought about how during those last few seconds before I get to lower the speed and am tempted to do it sooner and am gasping for air...........i just think, this is the very moment I am impacting my fat loss so I stuggle and grabbed the handle bars and ran......................its amazing the little challenges you put yourself through in order to complete the next minute, then the next minute.............I really hate cardio.............but I love the fast leaning effect so.................give and take right?

It's often very difficult to make a sudden jump into the "healthy lifestyle" mode, and b/c people aren't keeping up with their goals, they become discouraged and dump the whole thing - this is, of course a bad idea. It's worth remembering that alot of the fitness people have years and years of practice supporting the "healthy lifestyle," so it doesn't seem that difficult - coming from takeout and beer, though, it may seem impossible.

Maybe instead of trying to do everything at once, you should decide to just work at one or two things a week: replace a meal a day of your "normal" diet with something healthier, or try to walk one the treadmill every other day. Making a number of smaller changes to your lifestyle over the course of several months may be easier to maintain over the long-term than just making instantaneous, wholesale changes.

Good luck!

Angel, don't worry. You want lifestyle changes that will last, so if what you did for 2 days wasn't sustainable, let's look at what exactly you did do/eat, and what you ended up craving and caving to on the first day of giving in. Then we can figure out a more reasonable substitute for the things you were lacking that overcame your willpower (briefly).

When you are making changes for life, not just for short term, there will be alot of trial and error in the beginning- its ok! So, you go a little too hard core for 2-3 days, and end up setting yourself up for a two or three day binge. In the scheme of things, you may have delayed your progress a few days, but you probably haven't set yourself back (i.e. gained weight). What you have done is learn something that doesn't work for you- at least in the form you were utilizing it. Try to identify your biggest pitfalls and weaknesses- list them here, and we can all try to come up with an alternative that isn't yucky or difficult, and you may end up really liking!! If you have trouble identifying your major pitfalls, do this: keep a notebook iwth you and write down everything that passes your lips for 48 hr. don't worry about tallying anything as you do it. Then, after you finish, you want to do 2 things:
1) identify the most frequent things you consume (can be sodas/juices/snacks/even healthy things)
2) Sit down with CalorieKing - Diet and weight loss. Calorie Counter and more. and figure up exactly how many calories each thing has WITHOUT cheating portions- pay attention! (for example, my "righteous" green tea has 70 calories- but in 8 oz! so my full glass, which holds 12 oz, was really barely better than a soda!)

I am no ItalianAngel or gYmgIrl, I am in the same boat as you, just a year into it. as such, I hope I can help you with some of the things you may encounter. if see my blog, you'll find that I have a tendency to do the same thing you do- overkill in the beginning! But these wonderful people have helped me along the way, and now, instead of having the usual small increase on my yearly physical chart, I'm going to be 26 lb. lighter than last year (assuming I achieve this next mini-goal step!).

to quote Home Depot:

You can do it. We can help.

right thats it! I said I was gonna keep a log so thats what i gotta do whether i do stick to the diet/workouts or not. I cant remember all of what I ate last week bt it was jus plain garbage!
I however last nite thought back on the day and remembered all that I ate yesterday and noted it, gotta admit am disgusted with myself when look at it like that but had to write it down still, here goes my diet/workouts for Sun 14 Oct: in no particualr order,

13 packets crisps
1 beer
3 glasses wine
1 veg burger
2 pieces fried chicken
6 spicy wings
2 portions chips(+mayo)
2 cans coke
1 veg curry +rice
1 grilled fish fillet in tomatoe sauce with boiled potatoes +cheese
7 choc bars
2 slices cheesecake
1 tangerine
2L water

Workouts - 3hrs walk

I first thought noway I can right this crap down but I had too and I see now where am going wrong, am beyond grinning bout it anymore!
Anyway writing what am eating down today and will post when the day is over, gotta admit though not going well will try and restrain myself a bit more and work on the willpower!
I probably come across as a big fat slob now and when I look in the mirror I can't disagree! I wasn't always like this tho and hope to recover my health and back to my old self soon!!!

sweetheart, everyone has days like that...and everyone tests their willpower. You can do it. It might be tough at the start, good things usually can be. But think how worth it it will all be, and think how good you will feel and proud of yourself. You don't have to jump in right away and make huge changes. Take your time, and above all else, don't hate yourself when you do give in to temptations, etc. It's ok. And you are the only judge you should worry about hun. Everyone eats like you did sometimes lol god knows I don' teat all that well sometimes hehe Don't worry about what we think, just continue posting. I think making your journal will help you immensely. You can look back at the beginning of it as you get further down the line and see how you've changed. I think once you start to control your eating more and see a couple pounds drop off, you will be so excited, you won't be able to stop...and before we all know it, you will be in buff, beautiful shape. But what's most important hun, is how YOU feel. Keep your head high and know that you can do it. Just remember that we here are rooting for you Keep us in mind if you ever need inspiration...geesh, there are some ladies here that are amazing

I hope you don't mind, I'm going to try to list some things that may make modifying this not so daunting and tempting, while starting you on your way to progress. These are just what I would do, you may or may not like my ideas- I hope they serve as a springboard to other ideas, as well.

2 pieces fried chicken don't have to cut this out at this point- can you remove the skin before eating it? or only have a couple crunchies of the breading instread of the whole thing?
6 spicy wings try to do without this- maybe order something different for your meal, then steal just one off your friends plate if you just gotta have something spicy
2 portions chips(+mayo) easy switch: drop the mayo (maybe try hot sauce instead?) and switch to baked chips. baked is better when you put the salty side down on your tongue, so you still get the salty taste even though it is lower sodium
2 cans coke OK, better yet get all your coke cans in the small sizes, so you are drinking 8 oz each time instead of 12
1 veg curry +ricedon't know what this is, but it sounds good!
1 grilled fish fillet in tomatoe sauce with boiled potatoes +cheeseyes! yes! yes!
7 choc barsI have a chocolate fixation, too. Try this- instead of bite-chew-swallow, bite off a little piece, look at your watch, and don't swallow for 60 seconds. Let the thing melt in your mouth- it sounds gross, but it is actually quite nice, and you get much more of a chocolate experience, but you'll be less likely to want the whole thing. I do this with M&M's too- 1-3 candies at a time, not a whole handful! I think it is fun to try to crack the candy coating off the M&M with my teeth, let that melt on my tongue, and then enjoy the chocolate for a few seconds before chewing/swallowing. all with your mouth closed, though- not all nasty looking
2 slices cheesecake instead, try angel food cake in the individual serving sizes piled with the fruit of your choice (i like kiwi, strawberry, blueberries for this) and topped with fat-free ReddiWhip (canned whipped cream). Yummy, light, and fewer calories. Also can try making your cheesecake into the tart shells instead of a pie crust- less chance of getting whopping sized pieces or helping seconds. I once made a cheese cake with no fat- it was good, if a wierd experiment. I used splenda, fat free cream cheese, and lite cool whip. Not a bad alternative to the real mccoy. I no longer eat artificial sweeteners, though, so that's off my personal menu.
1 tangerineexcellent!!
2L waterGood! can you make it 3? one way I do this is that when I order a soda, I only allow refilling with water. This keeps me from a second helping of calories, and it encourages me to get ice in my soda to start with (space filler, less soda calories) because a water refill without ice can be gross

Workouts - 3hrs walkrock on! did you listen to any cool music while you did this?

I probably come across as a big fat slob now and when I look in the mirror I can't disagree! I'm doing this, and you can too. trust me, this change in eating habits has made me enjoy my food even more- as I'm savoring each bite, making the most of every flavor. I have become choosier, and find that I don't want to waste calories on mediocre stuff. If you're going to eat, make it worthwhile! This has made me learn more about wine, more about cooking, much more about fish. As I ate certain things less frequently, what I found was that my body is actually intolerant of many foods- but I never knew before, because I was so busy stuffing my face indiscriminantly that I had no idea I felt bad, because bad was the norm!
I wasn't always like this tho and hope to recover my health and back to my old self soon!!!you absolutely will!!! I have 100% faith that you can do this. Take it one step at a time.

angelfaces: I just wanted to say that I thikn it takes a brave person to list their bad days and weaknesses as well as their good days and strengths. I admire your honesty and empathise with you, because we all have days where we regret what we did, and yes, we do slip up...but what it's all about is how to keep going right on track the next day. If you remember that everything in life must be balanced, it can really help with things like what we eat, portion sizes, and sneaking in little cheat meals and snacks. Keep your eye on your goal, remember that all this junk food is in the way of your dream. Start small, drink more water, you dont have to be a pro and run 932547329 hours on a treadmill yet, do as much as you can do a little more each day/week. Keep a diet/workout journal and praise yourself when you did something good. Write motivational messages to yourself. And above all, don't keep any junk in the house! Out of sight, out of mind.

Good luck, keep the faith!!!!
