FL ~ Lipid Loser!
Day One
Not so great, didn't even realize it was March already. What a loser, hah! Totally didn't follow Lindas plan at all. I'll do some measurements tomorrow and get caught up! Does doing double the cardio tomorrow make up for missing today???
My goal is mostly just to lose as much fat as possible. Gaining muscle isn't that important for me until the fat is gone. I also want a healthier heart as there is a history of heart disease in my family.
Last time I weighed myself (about a month ago) I was 155lbs. I remember when I use to be 120lbs and would love to get down to that weight again. That was in my mid 20's (now 36 and one baby later) and I was working out with Linda on a very regular basis. She would boot my ass out of bed at 6am and drag me to the gym for hours on end....I was actually starting to get that line down your chest and abs.....sigh, the good old days. Since having a baby 21 months ago, I've completely let myself go. I have started working out the last few months but have not been dedicated enough so I thought this challenge may be the boost I need. My biggest obstacle in this challenge will be finding time for me!
Good luck to everyone and look forward to doing this will all of you.

Welcome, being a mom of an infant does make it hard to find "you" time but you can always incorporate exercise time in your daily routine. Taking baby for a walk is a great way to get cardio (or if the weather is not cooperating - crank up the music and dance with baby in your arms) and you can replace weights with baby.... bench presses, lunges....do a google search and check out "exercising with baby" for all sorts of ideas. Also remember that muscle burns more fat so don't just focus on the cardio, you will burn calories and loose more fat if you are sure to include some resistance training in your routine.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hi Misha,
God do I ever know how you feel. I've never been cut, but in my glory days I used to sport a size 7 at 5 foot 11 (wish i would have appreciated that more then ) Now I am still struggling to lose the 40 pounds I gained while I was pregnant (along with all the extra weight I was carrying before I got pregnant). It sounds like you might be in Vancouver? If so and you ever want a buddy to do the walk jog with ( I am beginner so I have to start with something slow, hee hee ), we could push our strollers and take the little ones with us. Well, good luck and I will give any support I can.
Cheers to being a hot mama!

Thanks Ladies for all the support and encouragment so far, it's amazing!
Okay...Day Two!
It went much better today. I was at work today and if the emergency dept and all the wards at the hospital are busy, then I'm busy too....I was walking almost my whole shift today! I've eaten much better than yesterday, still not perfect but better! I had oatmeal instead of toast this morning, so that's a good thing! I really don't think I can give up my morning cup of tea with milk and honey....anyhoo, will try...maybe! It's hard to remember to eat every 2-3hrs but it's a good habit really. I feed my daughter every 2hrs or so, so I suppose I should feed myself at the same time too!!!
I'm taking EFA's in pill form....is that good enough or do I really need to go buy some Udo's???
I did cardio today after work:
10 min. rowing machine 23spm (my favorite ~ I use to be in a rowing club, it's a tonne of fun!)
30 min. treadmill - walk 2min. run 2min. walk 2 min. walk 2 min @ highest elevation, repeat
5 min. bike on as high as I can take it to give my legs a burn!
stretches
My stats:
Neck 13"
Shoulders 38"
Chest 40"
Rt Arm 11.5"
Abd #1 32"
Abd #2 39"
Glutes 43"
Rt Thigh 25"
Rt Calf 15"
Weight 155lbs
Height 5'4"
not sure how or where to get body fat checked, my gym doesn't have it....
Looking forward to tomorrow!

Wow, that was an amazing cardio session especially considering you had already put in a full day before hand. Have you done a resistance training work out yet?
keep smiling

Keep on it girl.............don't stop, don't let a few bad days and tight schedule deter you from figuring out how to make this work, its for your life, not just 30 days!!!!

It's been a while since I posted. I've had a lot of crap going on in my life and lost my motivation. I had a few bad days and completely blew my diet, although I'm still exercising.
The food part seems to be the toughest; harder than I thought it would be. Actually, my meals are okay...it's the stupid snacking...I broke down and had chips AND cookies the last few days. When depression hits, the fridge opens, unfortunately, I hate to admit that. I never really noticed before but because of this challenge, I realize that I DO abuse food and it's a stark realization for me because I never thought about it before and I've never had a big problem with my weight before....this is all new to me.
I need to get back on track and regain control of my eating. Just wanted to update you ladies. If anyone has any helpful hints or a special mantra you say to stop yourself from stinky thinking and putting that cookie in your mouth, pleeeease tell me!

Hey Misha,
Ya know what? We all have weak moments, ALL of us! Why not cure a sweet tooth with a bit of fruit or honey instead of simple sugars and evil junk food? The problem is...there's no 'cure' for cravings, just strategies to curb them. I just save what I've craved for during the week for either Sunday or Saturday, and it's so satisfying coz I know I really really wanted it all week. Some people put an inspirational picture on the fridge to stop urself. Just think of all that positive evergy you've put into your workout and ask yourself what you really want: a quick crappy disgusting snack, or a healthy heart? Think of what you really really really want more...
sorry I can't be more help...hope I helped...anyone else have any suggestions?

Hey Misha!
I just wrote about the same thing in my journal. I'm having one of those not so good emotional days. It is tough. The worst thing is to keep those nasty foods in the house. So that I think can help the problem to some degree. I threw out all the crap food before the challenge, which eliminates temptation. I also know that sitting at home when in that state make things even more tempting to just eat. getting out, being around others, and getting your mind off things can help to.
So your not the only one, I know what emotional eating is all about. I think the best thing is to get enough support, and thats what I need to do for myself right now to. I don't want to skip the gym, so I am gonna make a strong effort to still make it there today, and hopefully that will change how I feel too. lets do this!

Hey Misha!
Sounds like we are in the same boat....but if we were in a boat we might be too nautious to eat junk food!!!lol...lol
The last year I keep repeating the same sequence over and over, eat good , start to feel better, feel like I don`t deserve to feel good so, eat bad then feel even worse...if only someone could lock me up somewhere and only follow the program!!!What`s worse we know how good it feels to be in tip top shape, feel and look great....so why keep doing this??
My new boyfriend just called to tell me one of his co-worker`s invited us to go out saturday night.....wouldn`t go out like this , nothing fits anymore!!!....well maybe it will help motivate me to be good the rest of the week!!
thanks for making me feel like i`m not alone....hope your week goes better too...
Hugs
Gina

Hey Misha, don't know any magic mantra to say but I will send you lots of (((HUGS))) and good wishes. Everyone else has pretty much said it all and I think we have all been there. Just try to stay strong and if you do slip, pick yourself up as quick as possible, brush yourself off and work on making a better choice next time.

Hey I agree with Piera, out of sight, out of mind! Try not having those things in the house, and also try and pre make all your snacks and meals for the day to ensure you have enough food for the day without being tempted to buy any yukky junk. =)
Keep up the outstanding work(outs)! haha
