Default Muscle Combos - 4x50 (are you kidding me?!) The Nemesis Workout

[b][color="YellowGreen"]Oh my..........I think I'm getting old now, or at least that is exactly how I am feeling NOW! It's as though I hit a brick wall smack in the middle of this workout......dunno what happened or why. I'm eating according to plan, sleeping, stretching, glutamine, EFA's.....what the hell happened??? Literally I hit a wall, felt like calling it a day, but had soooooo much more to do......sure 4x50 psychologically does a number on me but not usually so I feel like stopping and laying down. Could be hormonal.......TOM coming soon, most likely this is the culpret....just hate when it happens though!~

Anyhoo......enough whining, I hear enough of it all day long, lol!

Tricep Dips with Leg Lifts on Ball: 4x50 (with lots of pit stops in between, lol, but was impressed at my ability to be able to manage one even, let alone 15-20 in a row, lol!)

Push Up to Mid Row to Side Plank: 4x15@b.w ( was to be 4x50......but are you kidding me? 50 alone would be great let alone 4 sets of 50, lol!)

body Lifts of Dips: 2x10 negative reps (was to be 4x10minimum)

Hip Drop to Calve raise: 4x25

~Yes, I'm calling this particular day the Nemesis Workout, because I will work like a trojan to better this mess.....but first gotta figure this fatigue silliness out......Dunno, tomorrow's a cardio only day.......I'm gonna have one cheat meal tomorrow too, then Saturday I will take as complete rest and have my cheat day that day......me body needs it!

Today's eats:

m1) 4ew, tabouleh, cheese Omellette (instead of wrap thingy....basically same macro's give or take)
m2) 2 rice cakes + p.b'
m3) chicken, lettuce, feta, cucumber and carrot, UDO's and apple cider vinegar (ate like a salad insted of a wrap)
m4) PWO shake + glutamine, banana
m5) chicken tortilla wraps
m6) protein n' water + glutamine b4 bed

On a sidenote......I weighed myself this a.m for fun and I weighed in at 117.6lbs. I reckon the weight lost was mostly water......but I think I may have seen some striation in my obliques when twisting.....sweet!
My contest folded up yesterday, I sent in my pics n' stuff Monday, so we shall see who wins 1st, 2nd and 3rd.......there ARE prizes too.......now I am letting myself hope to win something. I know I'm not going to be first place though.....one of the mods is in it and she is also competing soon in figure so, she looks great, and really should win, she's a sweety! There will be a feature on the MFHers web page, but not in the actual magazine....unless the powers that be change their minds!! I don't know what the prizes are either....maybe free subscriptions and Weider products and merchandise I would think.......anyhoo.....I'll post the results when they are in.

Well, it's gusty and raining here today......and tomorrow they're calling for wet snow....UGHH!! We're heading up to our trailer tomorrow for a walkthrough fo the house we just bought and to sign papers etc......really gonna be a fun day for a road trip, lol! I'm hoping though, to be able to stop that small little town where I was able to get some bison meat.......that was good stuff!!

Today's a cardio day, so it's gonna be the MMA stuff.....now this would be a great time for a hidden camera in my basement as I'm sure the lunge kicking stuff is gonna be a real sight for sore eyes....but hey! As for how I'm feeling today......so far so good. I feel awake alive and alert, but I also felt that way yesterday b4 my workout too......Was telling Gerry about it last night, and as soon as I said it could 'womanly' related, he just rolled his eyes and said "Well, duh, lol!!" Don't get me wrong....he was really quite concerned until I mentioned the hormonal stuff, then he was just like oh, well of course silly girl......

So we'll see how I feel during this aft's w/o and of course if I live to tell the tale without falling flat on my a$$!

Default Day6 - Cardio MMA mix w/ interval

Crappy rain all day is wearing thin on my nerves let me tell ya Doing nothing for my motivation or my usually positive spirit! This to shall pass, and for days like these there is always chocolate (dark chocolate of course)

It was cardio only day today........to be MMA style cardio as well. Meaning:
5mins reverse lunge to kick
5mins jump rope
1mins burpees
1mins mtn climbers
2mins, high knees marching
2mins jax
6mins stair stepping..........THEN
do it again one more time!

Mine went down like this:
5mins reverse lunge to kick
5mins jump rope
1min burpees
1min mtn climbers
2mins high knees marching..........THEN
30mins treadmill set on interval program (range btwn 3mph-3.5mph and incline from 0% - 8%, switching intensities every 3mins)
WHY did I switch it up you may ask? Well, jax are not a fave for me, I'm a bit boobalicious, so I'd pretty well need a sports bra made of kevlar to support me, lol!! So I debated just omitting the jax and replace with something else and continue onward, but then I am also able to choose whatever cardio [u]IU] would like to do soooooo, my new treadmill....still gleaming in it's newness was looking awful lonesome over there without ME treadding on it's unworn belt So that's how I came up with that one......the program on the treaddie that I did use is a good one too though, I was sweating by the end of 30mins.

Today's Eats:

m1) egg, ham and swiss in a whole wheat crepe (one cheat meal of the day, as planned)
m2) 12 almonds
m3) 1c mixed greens, tuna, evoo and applecider vinegar
m4) PWO shake + glutamine
m5) chicken breast and salad
m6) protein n' water + glutamine b4 bed

Meals are not according to plan today, but I don't consider them 'bad choices or cheats' except for my (m1), which was a planned cheat.
I am sooooooo looking forward to tomorrow being a cheat DAY! My body will be happy as well, as it will be a REST day too! Me body needs some rest, my poor shoulders, lol!!

Week 1 done: so all in all, given that the first week of any program is a learning curve I don't think I did too poorly considering that I'm more used to sets n' reps, lol! I may come back to this stronger/sturdier next week and if not maybe it is my own intensity that needs to be tweeked....anyhoo, a good rest will certainly help me and hopefull by the time I rejoin Week2 hormonal cloud coverage will have cleared and it'll be blue skies once again!

Tomorrow I will be gone all day.......on the road again, gotta get busy baking another batch of those protein bars!

Default Wk2 - Day1

Boy did that rest day EVER do me alot of good! Not to mention the 'hormonal cloud coverage' that was affecting me last week has subsided. I don't know, but I suspect my fatigue had to do with switching from eating/training for adding LBM to eating/training to lean out....and TOM hovering all at the same time, because usually I find my strength INCREASES around that time....
Anyways I finished my workout at around 8pm and am feeling fantastic, so this is a very good sign.....Yesterday was my scheduled rest day and cheat DAY, lol! I ate well too Maybe that's why I feel so energized today, lol! We were on the road all day yesterday so ate out all day, but had good snacks with me too. Too bad it was raining all day.......ah well it was a nice drive anyways......more on that some other time, lol!

Anyhoo......on with today's training;

Tabata leg press (20secs AMR - rest 10secs)x8 cycles@115, 95(last 3 cycles)
100 knee raises + 100 crunches x2
Innner thigh: 2x100@6,3
Outer thigh: 2x100@3,b.w
Tabata Thrusters (same protocol as above):8,b.w(last 3 cycles)

today's Eats:
m1) 2 poached eggs, ham, whole wheat toast (1 slice for eggs)
m2) protein bar
m3) mixed greens and tuna, UDO's and apple cider vinegar
m4) 22 almonds
m5) pork souvlaki and salad
m6) PWO shake + glutamine + UDO's

I was just waiting for you to come back online, lol! Oh Vanessa, this house is a fixer-upper! It has a great view from the living room window of the Big Rideau across the highway. 2bdrms a kitchen and one bath. There's an extra room that was added on as well, but that room has a real water problem coming from somewhere in the ceiling......there's a sunroom as well as a seperate double car garage and we're not sure if 2 sheds to the rear of the property will be ours or if they belong to the neighbours. It appears as though we have close to an acre of land, but won't know for sure until a proper survey is done. Gerry suspects it will take 2yrs to totally renovate (2 summers)....this year we will gut the kitchen and bathroom and put in new cabinetry in the kitchen while rearranging it's layout. We will totally close down the extra room with the leaking cieling as we're not sure what we will do with this space and until we sort out the source of the water leak we can't do much with this room. For now, we are talking about closing it in and making an internal walkway to the garage, a real sunroom with lots of skylights an extra bedroom....not usre....lots of possibilities there. The rest of the house will have all the carpet ripped up so we can see what's underneath...I suspect just particle board or plywood.....best case scenario would be parquet or hardwood, but I'm not convinced.....whole place needs a few good coats of paint, lol! Definitely has lots of potential.....now let's just hope Gerry can keep focused and really DO complete this reno in 2yrs, lol!! He's a great starter....not such a great finisher, lol! I'm happy because it isn't located where I thought it was.....there's a houseboat marina nearby and I was afraid we were stuck in front of that.....it's a real eyesore!
I was disappointed at first, because I was really set on it just needing new paint and maybe new fixtures.....this will require much more than that......however the price paid for it was worth it for the property alone, so even if we were to demo it and build something new.....we'd be ahead of the game.....don't think that'll ever happen either....I'm personally not looking ofrward to spending my summer this way, but hey IF it will mean a nice new cottage in 2yrs, it'll be a sacrifice I won't feel to bad about.....Our week-ends will be spent one day at the trailer (and I'm feeling a little sad about losing that wonderful peaceful space for this new venture), and one day working on the house.......We'll see, I know Gerry very very well.......and my gut says it's gonna be one of them never-ending projects. I hope he proves me wrong though, lol!
He had asked me what I thought after seeing it, and I teased him saying "sure, I could have had a big beautiful brand new house but instead you buy me THIS, lol!.......Our new property is something you can only say..."It'll look great....when it's done".......it's that last word that makes me a little uneasy, lol!
It is great though, we have a boat launch just across the highway and a nature preserve a block away, and a playground and a beach within walking distance as well........We will forever be known as 'the folks who bought 'Old So and So's place', lol!
I will be taking pictures the next time we are there......I want to keep record of the progress that way it will be fun to compare when we are all done! I can't wait to get started, lol!

It will be enough for the 4 of us and a guest I guess. It's a bungalow.....for now. Gerry's talking about either raising the roof on the added room where the roof is leaking (which would sovle the leaking problem right away, lol!)...so either cathedral cieling w/ skylights, a second floor is also a possibility, but not likely in his or my lifetime, lol!
The nature preserve is what you see in my photo album (with the walkway and kids and hubs ahead of me in pic etc).
I wish I had have brought my camera with me, but it was crappy rain all day anyways, so it wouldn't have done justice either.....ah well.....supposed to be nicer this week-end coming , so we'll see.

Default My Kingdom for a....Toe?!

[b][color="YellowGreen"]Well bloody hell! I'm having a great week so far and it's only Tuesday, lol! Was up all Sunday night with my daughter, she's come down with a bug. so whimpering, watering eyes andd runny nose and poor thing's not quite old enough to get that we just don't have any control over these things and they just gotta run their course. I certainly didin't get much sleep and well as the day progressed yesterday the poor thing became increasingly miserable and really didn't want me to leave her side........so, I obviously wasn't able to get in my cardio yesterday and really wasn't that bothered by it either, figuring I would be able to just add it onto today's workout...........EXCEPT.........

This morning we all went downstairs so I could get my workout done.....slept a little bit better last night, as did my daughter. I wound up sleeping with her though, she really gets uneasy when she's sick, and I get that about her so I don't mind being there at all. Anyways......she's a little better this a.m and I thought hey why not get it done before Hannah starts going downhill by afternoon.....
We were downstairs and I was debating what w/o I was going to do today (my sacroiliac was really acting up this a.m and I wasn't sure it could handle some of the high rep stuff I was to do today) when the doorbell rang Now it always takes me a little longer than most to get to the door here because I've got living hurdles to bypass....a dog who has an insatiable knack for bisecting your path, and a 2.5yr old who is equally eager to see who's at the door! I turned to run towards the stairs in pursuit of my doorbell when BANG!!! Iliterally rammed my foot into a 20lb d.b on the floor......I'm only 5'2, and a petite person so a size 5 shoe, small footed gal is me.....so that dumbell didn't budge one iota! The entire energy from the impact was totally absorbed by my now broken middle toe and injured a toe on either side of middle toe(I cursed in french, english and another language I'm sure I just made up!) and ran up the stairs.......to get the door, to find out ONLY, that it is Jehova Witnesses looking for the previous home owners.....Chinese speaking people (how nice, they found a translator for them, but like 7yrs too late, lol!). My apologies to anyone who may be of that faith......but they are not welcome at my door. By the time I returned to the basement....excruciating pain had settled into my 3 toes.......I could barely walk on it. I've broken many a toe in my day, so nothing new to me either.......I had something dislocated near where the toe joins to the foot, but seem to have rectified that (allbeit ever so painfully).

Sooooooo.........obviously, burpees and mountain climbers are out of the question, squatting is questionable as is lunges....definitely no walking lunges though, lol! I decided o.k forget it, scrap today's strength stuff....maybe try to get in that cardio I missed yesterday.......well the bike sucks for my toe> I thought, hey what about the elliptical....I can do that really funky thing Linda has us doing this month.....nope, my toe doesn't like that either today.....walking/running....not even gonna go there, lol!
That's when Idecided to throw in the towel for the day anyways, and see if Hannah would like me to bake up a batch of those sugar cookies she's been wanting me to help with for so long? So that's what I did.....I'm wearing my runners a) for protection and b) for keeping my toes aligned. I'm just hoping I feel alot better tomorrow.....I may have to modfy my workout this month though, as I can't be jumping and stuff.....but if I need to, I'll just do one of my other w/o's and still follow this month's meals. Can't help but feel like a total slacker now though....funny eh? I miss 2days and OMG, suddenly I feel like I'm all out of shape and a big wad! Thank God, it's only me, and not what the mirror is really reflecting.....my weight is stable and I'm not looking 'softer' either, lol!

So that's my fun day so far......Oh I did have a cookie too! To make me feel a little better!

Oh and to make it all soooooo much more fun for us.......it is freaking snowing today Now what am I going to do, if my toe swells up soo badly that all I will be able to wear are flip flops, lol?!

Erin...
OMG..you poor thing. I have never broke a toe but i have have ran into my dumbbells before so i kind of know the pain you are talking about..just not the intensity. I remember when i pulled my calf muscle i could hardly walk..the pain was bad..and the not being able to run killed me..a whole month almost. You be sure and take care of it..
How's your little one today...is she feeling any better..i bet she loved the sugar cookies. I know i do..
Snow...we had some in the mountains yesterday..it's cold here today.
I'm so ready for the spring to get here and stay.
Did you write Linda and ask her about your workout or are you just going to wing it..

[b]Hey there Miss V!
Hannah's on the mend today....she didn't get up till 9:00am and slept through the night as well. She still looks washed out and eyes all puffy, but I think she's on the other side of this thing now. My son woke up at around 5am feeling quite warm.......sneezing/coughing, runny nose....ugh! He's a better patient than his sister though, he just takes it in stride. Myself? I woke up with quite a sore throat (oh does it EVER end??? Yes I AM whining!) and mynose is a little runny but Claritin keeps that part under control.
My toe? Is purple in places, and feels so much better in shoes than not. There is some swelling but only where the toe meets the top of my foot. Pain is manageable today.....though I will scrap this month's w/o for a week or two...so I'm not gonna bother Linda with that, as I have all of last years Lean w/o's on file, or I may just try something new and different to get me through the month......I'll still follow the meals for this month......Ws looking at one of Last year's Lean's that has tabata as well for the first exercise then then the rest is 20,15,12,10-8....I may do that, or was also looking at half body w/o's.......I am hoping though to get some sort of a workout in today, geez I'm feeling like such a slack-ass here! I'm not one to sit in one place for very long and this is really putting a kink in my style, lol!

Yeah.....STILL snowing here today too....grrrrr! 'They' say it's supposed to warm up and be sunny over the week-end, and if so.....we're heading up to the trailer.....YaY!! Gerry and I were planning our furniture for the 'cottage'. Between the two of us, we have sooooo much stuff, we won't be needing much at all to buy. We will be getting a new mattress for home, and bring up our old one there.....I'm ecstatic because I hate our mattress, Gerry's had it since b4 I came along and IMO, it is wayyyy too soft. I wake every morning with aches am always stiff........my daughter has my old mattress, it is a firm one and I'm always a little glad inside when I am called upon to lay with her for a while....it's like my entire body goes "ahhhh", as everything settles in proper alignment, lol! I am very anal about proper alignment, lol!

Anyhoo.......that's about it.......I'm wanting to get a workout done, debating on the wisdom of it due to a cold coming on.....we'll see. Otherwise foods are on plan, cals a little lower due to inactivity...keeping prot's high though.

Exclamation Detour

My broken toe has me unable to do any jumping movements whatsoever. Walking on the treadmill is not so good either. Luckily the eliptical doesn't cause me any pain today........I had to make a big decision today as to what I was going to do about my workouts.....since this program is high reps it really does bother my sacroiliac, gets things wayyy too tight in there and then of course my toe has me unable to do alot of the plyometric moves as well......geez, even simple jax cause me pain. I'd rather take it easy on myself than end up with a longer recovery, or structural issues as a result........I know, I know, it's 'just a toe', but if I am favoring one side over the other to protect my toe I will have strength imbalances and overuse issues.....anyways, it was a tough decision for me to either 'try' and do my workout as it is or find something else I could do for now, till my toe heals enough to resume my usual program.......(Yes, I am quite aware that I am whining)

Well I found something.....a full body workout, done 3x wk in 3 different phases as well...so day1 is strength focused, day2 is hypertrophy focused and day 3 is fat burning focused.....along with two anaerobic w/o's on non lifting days. Comprised mostly of compound lifts as well........I felt that this workout would best save my muscle, burn some fat......So I'm doing this for 2wks or possibly till the end of the month........I will continue with my eats as they are laid out for April......and go from there.....So for the next two weeks, I'm sort of flying solo.

Here's my workout today: DAY1 - Strength

A1) Negative Chin Ups: 5x5 (rest 60secs)
A2) Front Squat: 5x5@40 (rest 60secs)

B1) Standing DB Shoulder Press: 5x5@15e (rest 60secs)
B2) Single Leg D.L: 5x5@40 per leg (rest 60 secs)

C) Ab Wheel: 5x5 (rest 60 secs)
~ Now the focus with this workout is to maintain my muscle mass, maybe even add a little more, but mostly fat burning so my cals will remain on the low side.

Today's Eats:
m1) mashed banana, o.j and protein powder
m2) grapefruit
PWO shake + glutamine
m3) tuna berry salad + 8 almonds
m4) protein bar (homemade)
m5) lean beef, broccoli and mashed sweet potatoe
m6) protein n' water + glutamine b4 bed

So this is my today.......I didn't bother to ask Linda for a different program to suit my poor old toe, lol!! I'm a little embarrassed to even ask......so I'll just go with the flow, and see what next month's program has to offer......:p :p :p

Default Cardio Only Day

Just a cardio day today.....so I did the elliptical w/o since my toe can handle that one. Actually I may be able to resume my regular activity by next week.......I was able to use my treadmill and I tried doing some mtn climbers and is alittle stiff and sore but not excruciatingly so.....I'll continue the path till next week and see where I am at......Meals are still on course.

today's cardio:

Cardio was 35mins in total:
10mins set on reverse, level 4: 2mins backwards and 5mins frontwards
15mins set on fat burn same intensity as above
10mins HIT level 8 and dropping a level every 90secs.

today's Eats:

m1) 4 ew, skim milk cheese, tomatoe and shallots
m2) 2 rice cakes and p.b
m3) 3oz steak, feta, cucumber, lettuce...efa and applecider vinegar
m4) banana
m5) turkey meatballs, spincah and tomatoe in a wrap
m6) protein n' water

~the family is on the mend so to speak. My son seems to have bounced back in 24hrs, my daughter just has a cough....my sore throat is only half that and my toe is healing, so long as I keep shoes on.....and Gerry, well he's so far been untouched by any of this, lol!

Boy you are a trooper. Cardio even with your hurt toe. I'm glad to hear everyone is on the mend.
Hope you had a nice relaxing evening...

I just hate being idle.........especially when I am finally starting to see some ab definition popping through! Don't wanna lose that, lol!! I love being able to spend time with the kids etc as well, but even Hannah starts to wonder even if it's a scheduled rest day....she'll say things like "c'mon Mommy, it's time to go downstairs!" and when I say that I don't really need to get my exercise done, she's disappointed, lol!! She's my live-in coach, lol!

My toe (silly toe) is healing, still tender but will be o.k. I've not gotten my w/o done yet....but am planning to do so this evening. We're going to my mom's for pizza later on, so I'll get it done after that.....I'll use those lucious carbs to fuel my workout, lol! Today is a planned cheat 'day', so I've had dim sum for brunch........I'll have a protein shake w/almonds or Udo's b4 mom's or ff yogurt....or a protein bar.....sumthing, lol!

It's along week-end here......Easter and all........so since weather is permitting, we will be going up to the trailer. I'm anxious to get my garden planned out and we're making it bigger this year too! I've got some seeds started here at home as well, though still too early to plant. We don't have posession of the 'cottage' house till the end of the month so no work will be done there.....I haven't really planned a dinner and hadn't really thought about it either.......I guess if I'm at the trailer, it'll be very simple stuff, lol!
