May's Program: Wk1-Day1 Back
[color="YellowGreen"]*sighs* Nice to be back It was only 4 or 5 days off, but I feel like it's been an entire month. I hate not being able to train, so thank God I am an active individual with a very active family outside of regular training.....keeps me moving still.
This month's program is intended to be light in nature, not necessarily in weight It's 4 to 5 days lifting and5 days cardio as well. Cardio can get done easily when I'm out of town, and the lifting portion I'll rotate as I was doing last summer.....didn't hurt then, doubt it'll hurt now, lol! Meals are super tight and super clean for 5 days of the week and am also allowed 2 free days......which obviously will get used up while I'm away on week-ends.......it always ends up being mostly clean fare nonetheless, but I don't rethink having a icecream cone, or a slice or two of pizza......that sort of thing.
I've done my first w/o today of May and it's 'lite' indeed, in that it's not time consuming at all......however my lats are feeling it, lol, so not lite in terms of work being done
So anyhoo.....here's my today:
May: Wk1 - Day1: Back
Lat Pulldown to Chest and Back Alt: 3x10,12,10@ 42, 34.5, 42 (34.5 for last 2 reps)
Wide Grip Cable Rows: 3x10,12,10@52, 44.5, 52
Hyper Extension: 3x10,12,10@ 20,15,20 (will increase by 5 next workout as this was too light feeling)
Today's Cardio:
Elliptical 45mins: 10mins HIIT / 35mins set on fatburn staying around 75%MHR
Today's Eats:
m1) 2ew poached in f.f, reduced sodium chicken broth, grapefruit
m2) 11 almonds, chicken breast (3oz)
m3) mixed greens, chicken breast, tomatoes udo's and applecider vinegar
m4) f.f cottage cheese and strawberries w/splenda and cinnamon
m5) is to be chicken legs and roast potatoes w/broccoli.....but I may not get to the grocer in time (darn, b/c this meal gets my mouth watering just thinking about it!), otherwise it'll be salmon w/ roast yams and broccoli
m6) protein n' water + glutamine b4 bed + 1tbs natty p.b (haven't got meatballs on hand this evening)
On the personal side of things we get the keys to our summer project on Saturday. Was to be Friday but Gerry's got an important appointment that he must keep. It's soooo exciting.....got my paint picked out for the kitchen and living room. I've chosen my colors for the sunroom, and am still planning the bathroom as we'll be totally rearranging that. I'm thinking the bedrooms'll be basic white. It'll be alot of fun.....I'm going to take some b4's of this house and compare by summer's end. There should be a major difference by then. Next year will be more structural stuff getting done, this summer mainly is focusing on cosmetics and landscaping.

Wk1 - Day2: Chest
A great day weather -wise here! Spent the afternoon with the kids at my Mom's place......we had a 'pretend ' birthday part for 'Gramma' at my daughter's insistance, lol! Without the birthday cake of course
Training got done after my visit, so late afternoon-ish. I'm liking the workouts because they really are not time consuming and because of that I am quite motivated to push push push with the weights, so cool on that! And guess what??? I actually ran today too! I did some sprints as well and that so far hasn't hurt my toe, but it's usually in the morning that I feel it the most....... I did learn that I am needing new runners again.....I love my Ryka's......I'm wanting a pink pair this time, lol!
Sent in my stats and stuff to Linda this a.m, and am curious what she has to say about my results.......my guess is that I was able to just maintain....she warned me that the scale will most likely be no help in indicating progress anymore so YaY! to that.......just the mirror and measure now and Linda's feedback....sweet! I haven't really had time to review my results and compare to last month so I'll post that stuff up tomorrow, when I have a little more time.
Without further ado.......here's today's workout:
Chest: 3x10,12,10
Incline Barbell Chest Press: 3x10,12,10@55, 50, 55
Decline Barbell Chest Press: 3x10,12,10@55, 50, 52.5
Flat DB Flyes: 3x10,12,10@25, 20, 20
Today's Cardio:
Run 30mins 2% incline @ 4.2mph. 60sec sprints @ 6mph x 4 within the 30minute timeframe.
Today's Eats:
m1) kashi n' milk
m2) protein cream bar
m3) ham on sprouted pumpernickel/rye w/ mustard, broccoli (one devilled egg made with low fat evoo mayo, 1/4c frozen yogurt: I was at my Mom's )
m4) f.f yogurt, banana
m5) broiled elk sirloin, brussel sprouts and quinoa w/ lemon and Udo's
m6) protein n' milk, + glutamine b4 bed.
So this has been my today.

Day3 - Abs SS Day5 - Legs
Another super day for weather.....YaY!!! Lots of fun playing outside......tag, hide and go seek, mud pie tea parties, lol!! Life is sweet isn't it?
I have chosen to superset today's workout with my Saturday workout due to the fact that I will be away on the week-end and don't have any equipment where I will be at. Mind you I'll still be plenty sore from painting a tearing out carpets and raking I'm sure, lol!! Yardio and Home Reno-Fit, lol!! I may start my own franchise lol!! Anyhoo....the cardio component will get done on schedule so no need to double up there.
Got some wonderful feedback from Linda yesterday so I'm feeling supercharged now, lol! We both agree that at this point the numbers really aren't important....or at least not what we will be focusing on so much as my numbers are all good really. Now we are gonna be focusing more on the visual tailoring of things....aesthetic, if you will, so that's nifty too......It's down to my two main stubborn areas.....my tummy and my upper thighs that seem to be holding on for dear life....., but I wonder if that's a fallout from a time long ago where I wasn't so good to my body and wasn't eating enough food....starving actually? We shall see and know more in time......I'm going to battle my trouble zones and hopefully win, lol!!
So on with todays' workout: Day3 Abs SS Day5 Legs
A1)Weighted Knee Raises: 3x10,12,10@25,20,25
A2)Leg Extension: 3x10,12,10@47,39,47
B1) Weighted Crunches: 3x10,12,10@35,25,35
B2) Single Leg Curls: 3x10,12,10@21,18.5,21
C1) Weighted V-Sits: 3x10,12,10@20feet 15 hands, 15feet 10 hands, 15 feet...no hands.
C2) Calve Raises: 3x10,12,10@95, 85,95
Today's Cardio:
Elliptical 30mins: 10mins HIIT / 20mins set on fatburn staying around 75%MHR......was to be 45mins in total, however due to my lateness in getting to it this aft., my kids were near nap time and soooooo, cranky, fighting, and generally not getting along with each other, I finally had to stop my cardio and call it quits......I don't like to have to call it quits but as a last resort I will.
In retrospect I will if that ever happens agin in the future just make it a good 20-25mins HIIT and be done with it.....and them, lol!
today's eats:
m1) poached egg, f.f cottage cheese (1/4c), mixed fruit (1/4c) Hubs took us out for breakkie this a.m
m2) almonds and 1/2 banana (due to timing as we went shopping after breakkie)
m3) split pea soup
m4) PWO shake
m5) jade garden soup and rye toast
m6) protein n' water + glutamine b4 bed
~we were at Walmart today looking for new sneakers for the kids.......I've come to a conclusion about my kids and Walmart. NEVER AGAIN!!! Something about that place makes my children miserable.....maybe because it's a miserable environment, I dunno....even when they were babes, it's the only store that they actually will have a real tantrum crying fit at......again, I will never again be bringing my kids back there until at least they are teens, lol!! And then they won't probably want to anywhere near 'Mom' because it's soooo uncool, lol!

I agree.....I think it's the lighting too! Even when the kids were infants I couldn't be in that place for longer than 30mins before somebody would be crying....it's awful! the only reason we were there were for shoes.....they do carry a particular shoe brand (Dr. Scholl's) for children that is good quality and cheaper than the more pricier brands.....I'm big on taking care of your feet and proper fitting footwear is a MUST! Stems from being a hairstylist for 20-some odd years....used to be able to stand 9-10hrs/day wearing 2+" heels while doing hair and then suddenly one year it was like BANG! My poor ol' feet rebelled and said no way.....and I began to get scared of foot malformations (hammer toes etc).....I've got small feet, and some even say they are cute even.....I'd like to keep them that way, lol!
So we're off to the trailer and our new summer house too tomorrow. Plans are that we will rip out all the carpets, wash the walls and baseboards to prep for painting......I dunno if we'll get around to painting just yet....will definitely require some good primer first. At the 'farm', I will be planting all my seeds, getting that going....I have watermelon, canteloupe and cauliflower started indoors here, but won't plant those in the ground until near the end of May........As for workouts.....they'll be getting done, don't orry 'bout that, lol!! I get 2 cheat days over the week-end as well, but won't take full advantage either....maybe a cheat or two/day over the week-end. I'm in the mood for icecream! If I get time....somewhere in all of this, I may try my windsprints just for fun this week-end......I don't have an exact 500m area, so I'll just be guesstimating the distance....good enough, just for fun anyways!
Have a great week-end all.......

O.K.......here it goes:
Was away over the week-end as is typical every week-end for the warmer seasons with us. A very busy, busy busy week-end too, lol! We were trying to leave town saturday a.m when our truck was acting funny....wouldn't start consistently......we tried to leave, stopped at a doughnut shop for a coffee and a sandwich and again it acted like it wasn't going to start...it's a faulty connection with the starter itself. Hubs wanted to chance it anyways and I said I thought it would be better to bring 2 vehicles just in case.....he's the carpenter I'm the lady of the house, lol! All I could see was if this van broke down on the highway in the middle of nowhere...with 2 small children who are vey busy little people, a black lab who loves to run away and a truck FULL of supplies.....need I say more? He agreed, so back home we went to pick up the SUV, load that one up too, lol!! So lucky me, I got to drive up ther without any kids or the dog....just me and the open highway, lol!! Tunes a blasting it was sublime! the truck turned out to be problem free there and back.
Our new summer home got 2 coats of paint in the living room and the walls primed for paint in the bedrooms. Carpet was ripped out of the sunroom and we just threw down an area rug in ther for now. Unfortunately we couldn't get the water works going.....it's well water and the foot valve in the pump isn't functioning...I suspect we'll just have to have the whole thing (well) redone as it was left unused for 6mos or longer. I spent most of my time tending to the grounds....raking out leaves and debris from the flowerbeds, again these were not tended to in years as the previous owner was an old widower and apparently didn't do much around the house or property. I gathered a pile of leaves as tall as myslef from one of the beds....OMG!! I won't plan on a redesign of the flower beds till I see what exactly was planted before......I sorta feel I owe it to the deceased woman who did plant that flower garden the respect to at least see what she had and tend to it till then. Then the kids spent the rest of the time jumping in the leaves, lol! We seemd to have pruchased in an older community...we are most likely some of the youngest people around there. Our neighbours are all sweet older people (70yrs and up) and are so happy to see little children.....I think that's wonderful to have such neighbours....of course being a small town everybody is watching us very closely as they drive by....'what's going on at the Old Polk Place'? that's what our house will always be referred to for at least the next 50yrs! So lots of fun was had over the week-end. We spent the nights at our trailer nearby....eats were not stellar but was perissable as I am allowed 2 free DAYS this month......I will now be able to plan better for eats next week-end knowing what's involved better now.

Wk2 - Day1: SS + Tri-Sets
Back in the saddle after a pretty active week-end nonetheless. we did spend most of the time at this new house so that was a bit different for me....we are in a 'neighbourhood' with actual neighbours, lol!! I'm used to being able to run amok without having to wonder what the neighbours might be thinking Oh well, it's nice to be in such a community as well, but I am more accustomed to isolation for relaxation. I didin't get to try out my wind sprints, but believe me, all of the yardio I did certainly made up for any lag in formal workout. What did suffer unfortunately was my eats. At our trailer I am fully set up with all the amenities of home so I can cook/boil whatever....at this house there is NOTHING Not even a microwave, definitely not a fridge. There is a little cafe a block away but nothing very clean to eat there....desserts are to die for though, lol! They make a brownie that would make your toes curl up tighter than, well you know, lol! But salads are quite small even with chicken in it. Anyhoo point being that I was having a difficult time getting in 6 meals a day....now calorically speaking I'm sure I wasn't too under, possibly over and I blame the brownie! Luckily though, I did have 2 free days over the week-end so I'm sure all in all everything balanced out allright and I will be definitley cooking and packing a cooler next week-end!
Now on with todays' schtick!
Supersets and Tri-sets:
1A) Flat DB Press: 3x10,12,10@25,20,25
1B) Bent DB Rows: 3x10,12,10@30,25,30
2A) Deadlift: 3x10,12,10@65,60,60(ugh!)
2B) Ab roller: 3x10,12,10
2C) Upright Row: 3x10,12,10@35,32.5,35 (could've gone heavier here)
3A) Front Delt Raise: 3x10,12,10@15,12.5,15 (wowza! I've gained strength here!)
3B) Rear Delt Raise: 3x10,12,10@8,5,8e
3C) Single Leg Calve Raise: 3x10,12,10@40,35,40
today's cardio:
45mins Elliptical. First 10: HIIT
Last 35: Fatburn mode - 75%MHR
today's eats:
m1) eggwhites poached in broth, grapefruit
m2) PWO shake + 11 almonds
m3) salmon and spinach, udo's and applecider vinegar
m4) ff cottage cheese and strawberries + splenda to taste
m5) X-Lean turkey sausage, baked sweet potatoe wedges and spinach
m6) protein n' water + glutamine b4 bed.
So there you have it.....that was my week-end and this was my today.
Feeling great, energy is sky high, no colds or flus to note and my poor ol' toe, though it still aches is allowing me to run a little bit.

Oh yeah....that brownie was to DIE FOR!! Worth every little, well not so little calorie that's for sure...not one regret there!
Yeah nieghbours IS different......allbeit they are far from us it's just sort of wierd and everybody is 70+yrs old too, lol!! They all came to the house and intorduced themselves and welcomed us to the 'hood, lol! They are soo happy to see children outside playing and such and I totally get that about seniors so I feel good about it. Still very peaceful and we have a beautiful view of the water as well........I tried to get some pics, but my damned camera is soooo not working well, or maybe it's the batteries....anyways, next week-end I'll bring up my digi SLR and take my shots with that instead....I know I can rely on that baby!
My toe is healing....slowly. Still aches like the dickens in the evenings, but I am able to get in some small runs here and there.....so that's cool.

I hope this does not make me a bad trainer and I KNOW sugar is bad and so on and we would not die if we never ate it again but.......seriously, I personally think a brownie is not a biggie at all.......when people work so hard and have no serious medical reason not to, its okay to eat stuff like that which makes us feel happy and tastes good, just not to live off it which is what many people do. yeah its not good for you or whatever, but if you eat well most of the time and exercise, then I think its okay to have some indulgence. I do that, yeah I diet, and compete but I eat chips, fried food sugar..........PEPSI.....but its all balanced in with training and proper eating.....would I be better off if I did not eat this stuff, yeah.....I did it for years..........I think I am balancing now, and again if that is my thing, I earned it.....so I am glad you have no regret and I think you deserve it!

Yeah....I'm pretty much of the same philosphy too. It would certainly be a different story if I weren't progressing or worse if I were regressing....but I do have a healthy relationship with my foods and seldom regret a good cheat. I have been known to regret cheats that were not as good as anticipated.....like KFC, or Pizza Hut....that suff my body hates no matter what! That stuff is like what wasting money is to my bank account, lol!

Heres a cheat for ya!!!!
Saboyan
custard used for over berries
1 pint heavy cream
¼ cup powdered sugar
6 ea egg yolks
¼ cup sugar
1 drop vanilla extract
3 oz Marsala/ Sherry/ Port wine
2 oz Rum/ Cognac/ Vodka / Grand Marnier
(after you have mastered the technique it’s fun to change the flavor by using different alcohols )
In a machine mixer (kitchen aide) whip 1 pint heavy cream and ¼ cup powdered sugar until stiff peaks will hold. HINT it is best to place the beater and bowl into the refrigerator or freezer before mixing….This step can be done ahead and held in refrigerator until needed.
In a bain-marie (or a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water) whisk the egg yolks and the sugar together. The important thing is that the temperature should be warm not hot, so the water should be simmering gently not boiling. If your egg starts to set you must start again with new eggs.
When the mixture is quite foamy add the liquid slowly while constantly whisking
Keep whisking until the sauce thickens - this will take at least 10 minutes. You can raise the temperature of the water a bit during this stage.
Remove from the heat and fold in the whipped cream. Serve your sabayon immediately, ideally with fresh summer fruit. Left over Saboyan will keep in the refrigerator for two days, it may need to be re-whipped.
The recipe will yield enough for 12 servings but You'll want to sit and eat it all.

Oh my God, that cheat sounds delightful! I don't think my body could take it. Might be fun trying, though.

Deja - Vu
It's called 'deja - vu" because today's training is the same as yesterdays......a little difference in weight used, but the same exercises and cardio.
Great day so far....weather's a little suckie, as it can't seem to decide if it's going to rain or shine Played in the park today with the kids for a change of scenery.....that was interesting. There is a wooded area beside our park, and behind that is an open field and then some more woods......there is a footpath between the woods and a tennis court directly behind the park. Well, up from the field and approaching the path were these two characters. I'm a bit nearsighted so at a distance they just looked like two heavy set people pushing a stroller. Not unusual in my area, lol! anyhoo....as they got closer I saw that they were 2 males....scruffy looking characters too. One guy had shoulder length hair that was all dreaded up, and the other was clean cut looking, but I wondered what these guys were doing in the field/woods with a baby?! I kept a careful eye on them as they approached...........they didn't seem to be afraid of being identified as they stopped in my plain view long enough for me to get a good look....I've got a photographic memory suddenly it dawned on me that perhaps these guys were undercover police.......recently a man was stabbed in the woods nearby in broad daylight by an ethnic gang looking for drug money....apparently it is an ongoing problem that police are aware and concerned about as the violence is escalating.......made sense to me after I made this connection, because they didn't look like likely associates in 'the real world'...one ultra clean young father and the other dirty looking scruffy rasta drug dealerish......anyhoo that was my sleuthing for the afternoon, lol!
On with todays' repeat of yesterday....
1A) Flat DB Chest press: 3x10,12,10@25,15,20
1B) DB Rows; 3x10,12,10@25,20,25
2A) Deadlift: 3x10,12,10@50,45,50
2B) Ab roller: 3x10,12,10 (I love/hate this one, lol!)
2C) Upright Row: 3x10,12,10@ 25,20,20
3A) Front Delt Raise: 3x10,12,10@10,8,10
3B)Rear Delt Raise: 3x10,12,10@5,2.5,5
3C) Single Calve Raise; 3x10,12,10@45,40,45 (for some reason I was stronger with this one today, lol!)
~My hamstrings hate me today....but hey, just wait tomorrow I get to do hammy curls and ham-balls....they're really gonna hate me tomorrow, lol!!)
today's cardio: Elliptical - 10mins HIIT then 35mins on fatburn mode @75%MHR
Today's Eats
m1) kashi and milk
m2) protein cream bar
m3) mixed greens, salmon Udo's and balsamic
m4) f.f yogurt and 1/2 apple
m5) chicken, quinoa, and salad or steamed spinach
m6) protein n' milk + glutamine b4 bed
that's my today!
On a personal note.......that contest I entered on another site finally gave results.......I didn't win a thing, lol! I really think it's funny because the person who placed first is somebody who isn't even a member on our boards over there....so I sorta think that's unfair. I will be getting some cool consolation prizes just for participating though (MFHers towel, keychains and hats I think.....so whatever, we get something for our efforts and that's kinda cool too!)
My laywer called me yesterday and told me that the courts are recommending that I cancel my previous divorce proceedings and start over anew....in my name.....my lawyer said that this is sort of unheard of, but that this is the recommendation and the courts must know what they are talking about, lol! Soooo.....I've got cancel the first proceedings (despite the fact that I hadn't started the proceedings back then, it was my ex), then petition my ex for divorce......WTF???? I can file without serving him.....difference is about 30days, lol! So paperwork will be drawn up and I will go in to sign stuff saying that I am cancelling the previous petition that my ex started.....and that I wish to proceed without him.......still looking at the same amount of dollars and cents but now I'm looking at getting my divorce fully completed and granted by anywhere from August to October! Ah well, at least it'll be done....the ball is starting to roll allbeit slowly and soon enough I'll be rid of him FOR REAL this time, lol!!

Hi Erin,
Wow the is wild about what happen at the park you go too. You can never be to careful.
I really don't think it's fair that someone who isn't a member of the boards won either. It just doesn't seem right.
I know you will be happy with all this stuff with your ex is over. I have to tell it it was such a load off my mind when all my crap was done..
You take care...
