Lizzyb's Lean N' Mean 2009
Well, I needed to start a new journal, as I'm starting a new 'journey', lol! So out with the OLD and in with the new, lol! I had been focusing on building since December, and after much debate I decided with Linda's help to switch up to a Leaning phase, my ulitmate goal is to achieve the best esthetic and overall fitness that one can expect at age 41, lol!! It's really only a number....and I truly do feel that way. we discussed my getting down to 115 but keeping my muscle size as much as possible......I have no set timeframe for any of my goals as I always truly just enjoy the process each and every day.
So starting stats are (and can also be found near end of my 'BfB' journalmarch 26/09
Weight: 119.5
Waist: 26.7"
Belly button: 28.3"
Glutes:36"
Upper Thigh: 21.5"
Calf: 12.9"
Bicep: 10.74", 11.5" flexed
Chest: 33.75"
So obviously not far to go, on paper.......I'm really excited to see where I get to by summer's end....I'm not looking to compete either, but I wouldn't mind having the physique in case I ever change my mind
My new plan doesn't start till April 1st, but since I took this week off, I was itching to get into it, or anything for that matter. It's a nice switchup for me after doing the Bfb, so this month is alot of HIGH rep stuff, and some tabata as well. After today's workout, my legs get all shaky just climbing the stairs, lol!
Let's take a look:
1) Tabata Leg Press: (20sec AMR rest 10secs) x8 cycles @ 95#
2) 100 Knee Raise + 100 crunches x2
3) Inner thigh: 2x100@2.5, b.w
4) Outer thight: 2x100@5, 2.5
5) DB Thrusters (tabata same protocol as above): 8e
~ I feel sort of wimpy with these smaller weights, but believe me I feel just as shakey or more than when I was lifting heavier and way less reps, lol! I know my metabolism is kicking in though, because my ears are ringing
Cardio most often willnot be done on the same day as weights because of the intensity, I can't imagine having to run after this w/o today without puking, lol!
Eats with this plan are great as usual......tho' I did not eat according to plan today.....that I'll start tomorrow and by Tuesday will be 100% ON!! I will be looking into maybe implementing some BCAA's as well with this program all to aid in recovery and keep me strong and healthy So that's my today.....and this is my new journal (again)

Lol!! I hear ya, that's why I'm thinking about the BCAA's....I'm already using glutamine and have been doing well with it too.
Today's a cardio day for me, I've not gotten it done yet as we've been just gotten back from breakkie and a trip to Pet Smart.....came back with toys for my budgie, food for the dog, another guppie....a male to add to my females so now I'll be having some baby guppies soo, lol! And a goldfish.....this is funny, we may start getting outta hand around here.....well eventually the goal with the fish is tohave anice 20+gal aquarium setup, so what I'm doin right now is for 'practice' really...and it's fun too.....the budgie, well it's my compromise as I would've loved to have a bigger bird, like a quaker, or conure or African Grey....but the upkeep and devotion is probably more than I can give to a bigger bird right now.....I'll save that idea for when I'm an empty nester (no pun intended but hey, lol!)
I slept like a stone after my w/o last night.......I thought I might have a problem falling to sleep since I did my w/o at around 7pm, but....nope, I hit like a stone.

Dunno yet......I'm not really a brand name shopper....if it's good quality, and the price is right, then I'm on it. My local jealth food's store's generic brand is great, I use thier glutamine and love it!

Well cardio didn't actually get done today..........just not enough hours in the day today, lol! Somebody shortchanged me Ah well, I don't feel bad about b/c I was off for a better part of last week so an easy re-entry isn't necessarily a bad thing either....at least that's my rationale, lol! I would've been doing the treaddie shuffle thingy today too, and well I would have had no problem to do it either except I'm all out of time......it's just now that I am actually having time to myself......the first time all day too......just have alot on the go today is all Gerry had a dental app this aft., so we were running getting 1/2 our errands done b4 and then waiting to do the rest after which was Costco.....so that place is always fun, not a great place for us impulse shoppers though.......I'm gonna go back later this week though b/c they have 200g whey isolate selling for $44 and I've got a coupon for $9 off that protein as well......it's double the amount of my usual brand for about the same price......dunno why, but for that price I'm willing to try it

Good morning pretty lady!
Well, it's 35F now and gray...sort of a 50/50 day whether it could rain or just hang in the air....it's supposed to get up to 45F later and be sunny, but I totally doubt we'll be seeing any sun till dinner time!
Well I'm off to go and get my workout done.......if I don't come back send in a search party, I may be laying a pool of my sweat on my basement floor!

Day 2 - Crossfit Failure/Plyo Sets
Well, I made it back ALIVE!!! Wasn't too rough, this plan is like to me anyways, Lean N' Mean '08 allstars....like it just seems to be the best moves of this nature of '08.....so for me, I'm loving it because I get to see how far I've come......today I did some things that were once almost impossible before so that is really cool! I'm taking advantage of this moment as my daughter ismaking a surprise for me and I'm not allowed to leave the computer room, lol! God only knows.....and I am almost afraid too!
Anyhoo on with the day's stuff.......
Crossfit Failure/Ply Sets (rest is 1-2mins btwn exercises)
Burpees to Chins: 2x60secs (I saw improvement here from last time doing this movement)
Lunge Clean: 60secs/side @8lb (seems light for alunge, but not so light for the 'clean' part of the movement)
Prone Butt blaster: 3x60secs @ 20 (total weight of 2 ankle weights....I SUCK at gripping d.b's with my little size 5 feet!)
Hamball Leg Curl and Lift Off: 3x60secs (another one I could barely do last year.....I'm amazed at how much my balance has improved as I wasn't going super slow either)
V-sits legs out: 3x60secs
~this w/o certainly gets HR elevated, lots of fun to do.....I considered doing my cardio from yesterday but decided to just let that one sail, doesn't matter as I am starting early anyways.......no biggie there.
Today's Eats:
m1) oats, flax, and 1scoop protein ( I only have flax at the moment)
m2) f.f yogurt
PWO shake + glutamine
m3) mixed greens, tabouleh, chicken breast
m4) 2 celery sticks w/ p.b
m5) breaded chicken and spinach or broccoli
m6) protein n' water + glutamine b4 bed
~It's a low carb day......so feeling like I need a little 'sumthin'-sumthin', luckily it's close to snack time so that'll be offset.....a leaner diet makes me feel 'lighter' if that makes any sense....in that i don't feel so full all the time...when I was building I was never full and ate b/c it was time to....leaning it's like I'm ready to eat, bring it on!! But not so that I'm famished either.....just a different feeling is all.
So this was my Day2 of weights......I lived to tell the tale!

A little stiff, lol!! Man, my glutes probably feel it the most and my upper quads.....got the lunge/clean down pat in my head for next time....I did it right except I was using neutral grip....I will do overhand next time.....I definitely slept like a stone as well! Keep dreaming about birds and houses, not bird houses. Gerry and I are looking at possibilities of purchasing a home near where our trailer is (future investment) OR moving to a small town in a brand new home.......OR.....purchasing a waaaaaaay bigger/better trailer for our existing property.....so yeah birds because I am totally enamoured with my new budgie and houses well that's obvious isn't it?
Any of the above options wouldn't bother me much.....the house we are thinking about in a small town is just gorgeous!! I'd be able to convert part of the garage space into my own salon, the kids would have less influence from alot of the stuff in the city here and I'd get a chance to make some new friends and contacts.......Still commuting distance for Gerry to get to work daily and for us to be doing the 'normal' stuff we usually do here in town.
The home near our trailer is cute....older house, nice property and supposedly a nice view.....close to the marina, and water access for boats etc.......and the biger trailer is like a small house actually.....a trailer but built in housing construction ie) actual drywall and standard insulation used instead of fiberglass walls that are paper thin......could easily get 3.5 seasons out of it! So dunno, we'll see.......should know by days end if we are getting the small house near trailer, if that deal doesn't work out then we're back to the drawing board....trying to decide if we will buy a begger bette trailer or move to a new home new community.
So yeah cardio day today.....it's an elliptical day today about 40mins worth....i'll put in details after I've actually completed it.

'Just' a Cardio Day!
[b][color="YellowGreen"]Yeah......'just' a cardio day, lol!! Who'd have thunk that an elliptical could whip my ass into such a puddle of sweat?? I mean who knew??? Ah well, feels great nonetheless and that's what truly matters!
Cardio was 35mins in total:
10mins set on reverse, level 4: 2mins backwards and 5mins frontwards
15mins set on fat burn same intensity as above
10mins HIT level 8 and dropping a level every 90secs.........POOPED!!!! My legs felt like jello, OMG! Not a bad feeling.
Today's eats:
m1) mashed banana, o.j, protein powder
m2) grapefruit
m3) tuna berries
m4) PWO shake + all bran bar (I need to make more protein bars)
m5) fish and broccoli (out of asparagus)
m6) 3 oz chicken breast and salsa
So as far as eats go, my body is wondering where all those luscious carbs went and those extra cals too.....I'm stopping the rumbly feeling with small doses of almonds. I bought new protein today as well and it is 35gP per serving so I am hoping this will help fill me up more without too much extra.
Now on the homefront.......no news on my divorce status yet......I expect by Mother's Day maybe even later.
As for our new purchase......Gerry called this afternoon and we did buy the country home near our trailer. It will more like a summer home/cottage thing in the future.....we will attemp to rent it out as well as it is quite touristy as well........so there we have it! We're staying in the city......for now, and I'm o.k with that too, though that house we saw out of town was BEAUTIFUL!!
60' lot, 3 car garage......ceramic and hardwood. Granite in the kitchen.....*sighs*, ah well there'll be others at other times......our new summer house certainly was a fraction of the price of that of this new home i'm talking about, like a little less than a quater of the price.....so in retrospect, it makes more sense.[b][color="YellowGreen"]

Hi Vanessa!
Lol, I don't know about a movie.....the house is older, it belonged to an elderly gent whom we think is trying to settle up estate affairs before going into a retirement residence or nursinghome. gerry bought it sight unseen, meaning we have NO IDEA what the inside looks like.......a little unnnerving from my perspective, but this is the way my DH operates, lol! We go to sign papers on Saturday and we will be taking a walkthrough then......to be honest I am feeling a little nervous. Gerry's the sort of guy who has BIG dreams but little time to ever see them to fruition, so in reality what happens is some things (like the stone framhouse and a couple of other rental protperties) sit idle and end up decrepping.....so yes, sounds good....in theory, but I'm not quite convinced yet....until I see it with my own eyes, lol!
As for my plans today......gonna be getting w/o #3 done and it's supposed to be really nice outside this afternoon, so I'm taking the kids to the park to burn them out a bit And I need to bake some more protein bars, and definitely NEED to get some houssework done around here, I'm getting lost in the dust bunnies

I think i would be a little scared too. I'm a big planner..i plan out everything so buying a house unseen would freak me out..but seeing as how it is from an older gentleman it will more than likely be a very nice place.
I'm glad it's a nice day there. It's raining here yet again..this weekend is going to be great so i'll be outside reading...i can't wait...
